News!

8/21/08: Just thought we'd crawl out from under the large, heavy object that is the NO REFUNDS DVD project to give you all an update!  The good news: light is definitely being seen at the end of the tunnel - we're nearly done!  The bad news: we're not done as soon as we hoped we'd be.

Post-production has taken a lot longer than any of us had anticipated;  post-production, for any that don't know, includes anything and everything that has to happen to a project between the time you are "wrapped" (filming is completed) and the time the finished product is available.  You've got video and audio editing, color correction, 5.1 surround sound mixing, DVD menu creation, DVD authoring and duplication just to name some of the challenges facing anyone trying to put together a full-on professional project.

We think the end result will be worth the wait because making a full-on professional project is exactly what we aim to provide you.  Shot with three Panasonic Varicams, one mounted on a 30-foot jib, the entire concert was captured in high-definition widescreen.  Full independent digital recording at various microphone placements throughout the theater allowed us to provide 5.1 digital surround.  We hired one of the best Directors of Photography in the area to assemble a hand-picked team of camera, jib and light operators, and engaged the services of a professional editor whose talent and enthusiasm brought the project to a level we didn't think possible.  Digital surround sound mixing was done by Chuck Chapman at Chapman Recording - one of the premiere studios in Kansas City and the first stop for commercial audio work in the Midwest.  Wide Awake Films, producers of documentaries that have taken them across the United States and around the world, stepped in to create the DVD menus and author the project into a finished master.  Finally, Oasis CD will be doing the duplication - we've worked with Oasis for years on our CD projects and they've been fantastic to work with each and every time; we're looking forward to the quality they'll bring to our first DVD.

Of course, the big question has yet to be answered: when will it be released?  As was stated earlier, the post-production has taken longer than we ever thought it would.  We can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but we're not quite there yet.  Right now, it looks like the No Refunds DVD will be available by the 3rd or 4th weekend of the Kansas City Renaissance Festival - that translates to mid-September.  We'll have them at our shows and, of course, here at our website.

Thanks to one and all for your patience while we all wait for this DVD to be completed.  Trust us - its on its way, it'll be worth the wait and you're going to love it!

3/23/08: No, we're not dead!  Sorry for the long time between posts, but we can assure you all that we're still alive and kicking!  The DVD project featuring the NO REFUNDS live concert is still on-track as it works it's way through the post-production process.  We will have the finished video edit in our hands in about a week; the work on the sound has already kicked off and we've started the process of getting DVD menu design and authoring lined up.  The post process is crazy and involved, but we're getting ever closer to the finish line!  Stay tuned!

The CALENDAR page has been updated with our current list of gigs for '08!

7/23/07: The live concert was a huge success, and we thank all of our great fans for coming out and helping make this project a lot of fun.  The reason for any live show's success is the audience watching it - so again, THANK YOU to one and all!  We'll be working up some pics from the show, so stay tuned for that concert page we promised!

5/9/07: Great news!  We've received word that the Council Bluffs Renaissance Festival WILL be open for the 2007 season and beyond!  It has been purchased and will be run by the folks in charge of the St. Louis Renaissance Festival - and we're thrilled to hear the news.  They're taking on a lot by owning and running a completely new Faire, so we're asking everyone to please make an extra effort to come out this June and support the show.  It's only going to get bigger and better from here if we have your help!

5/7/07: CONCERT UPDATE!  Here's the scoop, folks: 8pm on Saturday, July 14 at The Gem Theater.  Tickets are a base price of only $10 each!  We want to see all our fans out there ready to have a good time with us and to be a part of The Jolly Rogers' newest album!  You can buy tickets through the Gem Theater box office at (816) 474-6262 or you can go by the American Jazz Museum (1616 E. 18th Street, KC MO 64108 - right across the street from the Gem) OR you can buy your tickets online through Ticketmaster.  We'll also have tickets for sale at our upcoming shows.

Keep an eye out for a new page devoted exclusively to the concert in the very near future...
